Ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol. EVOH with a high ethylene content has low extrusion temperatures. It is commonly used as an oxygen barrier in plastic resins and food packaging. It is better than other plastics at keeping air out. EVOH is mostly used as a thin layer between cardboard, foil, or plastics by extrusion or lamination. EVOH is also used as a hydrocarbon barrier in fuel tanks and pipes.
