Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic polymer produced by the polymerization of propylene chains. It belongs to the polyolefin group and is partially crystalline and non-polar. Its properties are similar to those of polyethylene (PE), but PP is harder and more heat resistant. Polypropylene is the second most commonly used standard plastic and is mostly used in packaging.
Properties of PP
Low density
High resistance to fatigue
Better melt flow, long-term use temperature, hardness, and strength than polyethylene
Resistant to oils and almost all organic solvents
Odorless and skin-friendly
Flexibility
Applications of PP
Machinery manufacturing, automotive interior components, panels, battery cases, wire and cable sheaths, insulation films, connectors, pipes, packaging materials, cups, bottle caps, dishwasher interior parts, and cooking film.
